Ikanos is recognized for its innovation and standard-setting leadership. We continue to drive the development of new standards through our involvement in a range of industry groups.
ATIS
The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to produce technical and operational standards for the telecommunications industry. Subcommittee NIPP-NAI (Network Access Interfaces) is responsible for the definition of the North American DSL physical layer technical requirements. Ikanos holds two leadership positions in this group: Vice Chairman of Committee NIPP and editor of the North American VDSL2 requirements documents. Much of the work of this group is communicated to the ITU-T for inclusion in the final published international standards for DSL. For more information, please visit: www.atis.org
Broadband Forum
Ikanos participates actively in Broadband Forum including a number of working groups. For instance, the Testing and Interoperability Working Group is responsible for the definition and publication of the test plans and performance criteria for DSL systems and components. We serve as the editor for the Test Plan for VDSL2 Interoperability Plugfests. And the DSLHome Working Group is the key industry group defining the technical requirements for residential gateway products. For more information, please visit: www.broadbandforum.org
ETSI
The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) is an independent, non-profit organization officially responsible for standardization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) within Europe, including telecommunications. ETSI's Working Group TM6 focuses on the European requirements for DSL transceivers. Much of the work of this group is communicated to the ITU-T for inclusion in the final published international standards for DSL. For more information, please visit: www.etsi.org
FSAN
The Full Service Access Network (FSAN) Group is an interest group for the world's leading telecommunications services providers, independent test labs, and equipment suppliers to work towards a common goal of true broadband fiber access networks. The mission of FSAN is to drive applicable standards, where they already exist, into the services and products in the industry, while simultaneously advancing its own specifications into the appropriate standard bodies to provide further definition to the Full Service Access Network. Ikanos is one of FSAN’s more than 50 members that represent the leading implementers of GPON and BPON networking.

Home Gateway Initiative
The Home Gateway Initiative (HGI) was founded and launched by nine telecom operators (Belgacom, BT, Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, KPN, TeliaSonera, NTT, Telefonica and Telecom Italia) in 2004, and now has members from five continents, representing the entire spectrum of actors in the broadband home arena. The main tasks of the HGI are to establish home gateway-related technical and interoperability specifications and provide input to standardisation bodies. For more information, please visit: http://www.homegatewayinitiative.org/index.html.
HomeGrid™ Forum
The HomeGrid Forum was established as a companion to the ITU-G.hn working group which supports the development of a next-generation single coax, powerline and phone line standard for home networking, promotes its wide adoption, and ensures compliance and interoperability. HomeGrid has launched three work groups: a G.hn Contribution Work Group, a Compliance & Interoperability Work Group and a Marketing Work Group with the goals of helping to establish industries' technical requirements, ensuring interoperability, and branding and marketing of HomeGrid Certified products. For more information visit: www.homegridforum.org
The International Telecommunications Union
Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) facilitates cooperation between the public and private sectors for the development of standards that benefit telecommunication users worldwide. Ikanos directly participates in Question 4 of Study Group 15, "Transceivers for customer access and in-premises phone line networking systems on metallic pairs." We also make extensive use of the other technical requirements defined by the ITU-T, from basic telephony interfaces and voice quality to data coding and transfer protocols. For more information, please visit: www.itu.int/ITU-T/
TTC
The Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC) DSL Specification Sub-working Group (DSL Spec SWG) is responsible for the definition of the DSL physical layer technical requirements specific to Japan. Ikanos serves as the editor of the Japanese VDSL2 issues register document. The work of this group is communicated to the ITU-T for inclusion in the final published international standards for DSL. UNH-IOL
The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) DSL Consortium has been involved in the DSL industry since 1997, facilitating tests for conformance to standards and cross-vendor interoperability of DSL and DSL-related products. Ikanos strongly endorses the UNH-IOL model and actively participates in the "DSL Plugfests" to enhance the multi-vendor interoperability that enables growth of the DSL market.
