Dual Core Communications Processor

The Fusiv® Vx175 and Fusiv Vx173 build on the award-winning features of the company’s Fusiv family of processors and extend the range of access technologies and device types that can be supported by Ikanos products. With these dual-core products, service providers and manufacturers can build a wide range of devices including femtocell gateways, energy gateways, mobile broadband routers, optical networking terminals, network attached storage and others.

The Vx175 and Vx173 communications processors have two MIPS cores. In the Vx175, cores provide 600MHz and 400MHz of processing power. The Vx173 cores both run at 400MHz and can handle femtocell stacks, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and a range of other computational-intensive tasks. In addition to the dual core MIPs processors, the Vx175 and Vx173 also include hardware accelerator processors to provide flexibility and improved performance. The accelerator processor implementation enables bi-directional Gigabit routing performance while consuming a small fraction of the Fusiv’s processing power.
