Ikanos’ VDSL2 CPE Chipset Selected as Finalist for EDN’s 2006 Innovation of the Year Award
Fremont, Calif, February 7, 2007 — Ikanos Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: IKAN), a leading developer and provider of Fiber Fast™ broadband solutions, today announced that its FxTM100100S-5 VDSL2 customer premises equipment (CPE) chipset has been selected from a field of hundreds as a finalist for the 2006 EDN Innovations Awards. The Fx100100S-5 is the industry’s first IPTV-optimized multi-mode solution for CPE modems, residential gateways and other subscriber located equipment.
The Fx100100S-5 chipset delivers a rich feature set for IPTV and triple play, include queuing and scheduling for enhanced Quality of Service in IPv4 and IPv6 networks, on-chip classification, seamless DRR for bandwidth reallocation, enhanced Impulse Noise Protection, and dual latency and dual interleaving over all network interfaces. It offers interoperability with deployed Central Office equipment, VDSL Long Range capability with programmable U0, plug-and-play multi-mode operation and full band plan configurability for worldwide applications. The chipset also is compliant to all mandatory features of the VDSL2 (G.993.2) standard and supports all 8, 12, 17 and 30 MHz VDSL2 profiles.
